Create A Successful Relationship By Laying A Solid Foundation

create a successful relationship

To create a successful relationship is the desire of most people involved any relationship today. However, of the varying types of relationships that one can be involved with it is no doubt that romantic relationships are by far the most complex.

The very thing that draws people is so often the force that drives them apart. Many people feel that because they have fallen madly in love that they can create a relationship that is perfect.  They think that love will see them through what ever may come their way.  This belief is flawed in its simplicity because it is fueled by the unbridled emotions that new love brings and in time falls short of contributing to lasting relationships.

Relationships don’t just happen. They require a lot of work and with time can evolve in ways that are satisfying and rewarding to both partners.

There are many reasons why people fail to create relationships that are less than fulfilling. Having a successful relationship is not taught, it is not embedded in our DNA. For the most part people tend to emulate behaviors of people who they perceive to be in a good relationship.  The grass is greener in other people’s lives syndrome. The reality is that few people share the truth about what is really going on in their relationships as evidenced by the prevalence of divorces.  Many of us are shaped by our environment and sometimes that is not always a good thing.  So the questions then becomes how does one create a successful relationship? You do it by laying a solid foundation based on sound principles. Let’s look at some secrets to building a successful relationship.

Communication: Multifaceted, often recommended and frequently misunderstood. It takes more than one person to actively engage in any type of communication.  Most often the give and take is for one person to listen as the other verbally express their feelings, views or opinion on a subject matter.

The most missed part of communicating is the listening part. In order to be an effective communicator you should first be a good listener. Listen intently, don’t interrupt, repeat our interpretation of what you heard, clarify misinterpretations then share your opinions. Communication is only successful when all involved understand the same information as a result.

As you would imagine communication is probably the most important aspect of laying a solid foundation for a successful relationship out side of your love for each other. But it is only the beginning.
